Who we are.

As the founding lawyer of Luminate Legal, I bring over 20 years of experience in business law, with a unique blend of skills, insights, and entrepreneurial spirit to benefit small to medium businesses across Aotearoa, New Zealand.  

Whilst I love being a lawyer (boring, I know!) my journey in the legal profession in both private practice and in-house left me feeling like there had to be a better way, both for clients and lawyers.

Starting in the corporate and commercial team of a large New Zealand law firm, I then ventured in-house, worked overseas, and then returned to private practice in boutique firms helping businesses with both day-to-day commercial contract support and advice on strategic projects, business sales and acquisitions, and shareholder arrangements.

Known for being exceptionally organised and efficient, I became very curious about how innovation, technology and legal design could revolutionise the stubbornly traditional legal industry. Driven by a mission to make legals easier for Kiwi SMEs, I co-founded a legal tech business in 2023. This experience has given me firsthand knowledge of the commercial realities and mahi needed to make start-ups and small businesses successful. Legal services need to be faster to obtain, more empowering, easier to understand, and less stressful.

Combining my legal skillset and passion for business, and motivation to better ‘balance’ being a lawyer and legal tech co-founder with raising three gorgeous children, led to the idea for Luminate Legal.

I spoke with businesses just like yours, gathering invaluable feedback on their preferences and pain points regarding legal services. Armed with this knowledge, I got started on redesigning legal services from the ground up. The result? By leveraging innovative practices, technology and collaborative relationships I’ve crafted a legal business model that aims to give clients an amazing legal experience that is less stressful and delivers complete cost certainty. At the same time, it allows me more time to live the life I want to be present for my loved ones.
