We don’t do hourly billing. It doesn’t work for you, and it doesn’t work for us.
All our pricing is agreed upfront. No surprise bills.
Charging by the hour often values time over results as there is no incentive to be efficient. Equally, it does not support work/life balance for lawyers. With fixed fee billing the focus shifts from watching the clock to delivering value.

For business-as-usual legal needs with a regular monthly payment that includes access to a comprehensive suite of customisable NZ-lawyer made legal documents and tools. We have two packages available, but we are happy to discuss your unique requirements.
Either way, you’ll know exactly how much your legals will cost you and what you will be getting. If the scope of work changes, we’ll let you know and agree a revised fee.
Fixed Fee Services
1) Contract Review Service
Review of business-as-usual commercial contract to spot any major issues or risks that are unfavourable to you. We can also recommend provisions that are usually included in contracts of a similar nature.

Initial phone consult (20 mins), legal review of the contract, high level written advice identifying any major issues or risks, phone consult to explain and discuss advice (20 mins).

No drafting changes/edits to contract.
Shareholders’ Agreements, agreements related to the sale and purchase of a business or shares, employment agreements or policies, property transactions, construction contracts, any contract over 10 pages (exc cover and contents pages) or outside of our area of expertise (see How we help page)
2) Contract Review and Redraft Service
Review of business-as-usual commercial contract to spot any major issues or risks that are unfavourable to you and recommend drafting changes. We can also recommend and draft provisions that are usually included in contracts of a similar nature.
$1500 (+GST)

Initial phone consult (20 mins), legal review of the contract, written recommendations on changes to the contract by redlining changes in the contract and providing comments to explain changes, phone consult to explain and discuss advice (30 mins).
Drafting changes and explanation of issues and risks provided in a format that you can easily send to the other party to the contract.

Unlimited access to a comprehensive suite of customisable automated NZ-made legal documents through our partner, On Your Terms, with the assurance and peace of mind of legal support from Luminate Legal for quick questions on a semi-regular basis.

Peace of mind – knowing you have access to essential legal support at an affordable and predictable price.

Calls do not include reviewing documents, emails or drafting.
Employment matters, litigation, personal legal matters, insolvency and debt collection, construction and property transactions, regulatory advice, tax, and any other areas outside our expertise (see How we help page).

Minimum term of 12 months

The monthly fee of $265 plus GST is a fixed fee for the fixed scope of services described above in ‘What’s included’ and excludes the ‘Exclusions’. Payment must be made quarterly in advance by credit card or direct debit.
Subject to our legal obligations, the quarterly payments are not refundable.
If you cancel your plan during the 12 month term, you will still need to pay the remaining quarterly payments.

2) LegalPro Plan
If you’re an established business that needs dedicated ongoing legal support for ‘BAU matters’ on a regular basis with priority service from a lawyer who will really understands your business and its goals – this is the plan for you! From quick legal questions, to creating, negotiating and reviewing contracts and regular check-ins - you’ll get experienced legal expertise and continuous next-level support with complete cost certainty.
This ‘fractional counsel’ model allows you to offload all operational commercial work (and if outside our expertise we can manage it for you) to focus on the growth of the business. If the workload is quieter, we can work on the not-as-urgent pile of matters that have been sitting on your desk, in your inbox, or in your head for too long.
$2500 (+GST) per month

Unlimited phone/video consults - 30mins (subject to fair use policy)
Onboarding legal strategy session to understand business goals and immediate needs – 60mins

10% discount on fixed fee legal work
Access to client portal (with e-signature)
Dedicated lawyer who understands your business
1 custom contract draft, or 1 contract review and edit per month (or 2 contract reviews and edits per month if using On Your Terms contracts)
Priority for work turnarounds
Contract negotiation – 2 per 12 months
Remote and/or on-site (in Auckland area, as agreed)
Preparing speaking points or difficult meetings or shadow drafting emails – 1 per month
